Midge Wedding Party

I certainly can't leave out a very important piece of Barbie history while writing posts about Barbie June Brides. After all, her very best friend, Midge, actually did get married. So...last but certainly not least, this post is about the 1990 Midge Wedding Party Giftset. I am lucky enough to have this wonderful giftset in my collection.

Yes....Midge Hadley and Alan Sherwood were officially married. I thought it was interesting that Barbie was a bridesmaid and not the maid of honor. The flower girl was Kelly, and the ring bearer was
Todd. Later on, Mattel released another sister to Barbie on the market with the name Kelly, but she was more of a toddler that came with a baby crib, diaper, and pacifier.

Do you remember all the uproar when the Happy Family Midge came out complete with magnetic pregnant belly and baby? What everyone, except many Barbie collectors, didn't know, was that it was okay for Midge to be pregnant, because she was a happily married woman. Even the back of the box stated this, but consumers tend to jump to conclusions before actually doing any reading.

I hope you enjoyed this last post about the Midge Wedding Party Giftset. Please leave me a comment if you would like.

Wedding Fantasy Barbie

Today I thought I'd share the very first Barbie I bought for my collection. Well...it and one other were bought at the same time. The plan I had at the time, was to learn how to crochet, and Barbie was going to be my perfect model for these fashioin. Well....I cannot lie....I have yet to learn how to crochet, and it's been many years since I bought this doll I'm about to share with you. lol My hubby and I took a long weekend and drove to Monterry and Carmel for our anniversary. One of Monterrey's site seeing attractions is called Cannery Row, and we definitely visited this attraction. At the time, Mattel had a toy club there, but it no longer exists there as far as I know. However....Mattel has several other Toy Clubs scattered here in California, which I have also visited. It was the Cannery Row Toy Club, that I discovered a wonderful world of Barbie as an adult. I picked out 2 dolls to buy....a bride birthday Barbie and a birthday Barbie. Maybe I'll share the birthday Barbie I bought next year when Barbie's birthday rolls around. For now, I am sharing the beautiful Wedding Fantasy Barbie.

Isn't she gorgeous? The box isn't in the most wonderful condition, but I really don't care. I have her displayed on a shelf in my doll room so I can admire her often along with all of my other nrfb dolls. The year on the box is 1989, but the year on the box is usually a year behind of the date a doll actually appears on the market for purchase. I can't be sure what year we went on this trip, but I'm thinking it was 1992....not that it makes any difference. I'm just so glad this wonderful doll in my collection.

June is coming to a close, and I'll make my final Barbie bride post soon, so please come back to check it out.

I hope you enjoyed this post, and I really appreciate you stopping by for a visit. Please leave a comment.

Don't forget to play with your dolls and make something beautiful.

Mackie Empress Bride Barbie

What bride Barbie collection would be complete without the Bob Mackie Empress Bride Barbie doll?? She is truly worthy of belonging to any royal family in her stunning bridal ensemble designed just for her by the great Bob Mackie.

I was so fortunate to get her when she was available to purchase for a really great price. She has graced a prime spot in a curio cabinet in my house ever since. So...without further ado....here she is.

I wish the pictures were better. I took all of my bride doll pics with my old camera and edited them with an older version of Photoshop. I now have a new version of Photoshop, and that helped the pics some. I really should reshoot all of my pics with my newer camera, so maybe someday I will get around to doing just that. lol

Stay tuned. I think I'll be posting at least one more Barbie Bride picture before the end of the month. Then it will be on to a new theme of pictures.

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you enjoyed this post.

Keep playing with your dolls and making beautiful things.

OOAK Repro June Bride Barbie

Today I thought I'd share a doll I bought at a doll show many years ago. I wish I could remember the names of the 2 young women that created my doll, but unfortunately, I did not keep anything so I could give them credit now. After all of these years, I'm not even sure they had a business card to hand out. Anyway....here she is.

She is not a repaint and her hair was left in it's original style. It's the bride gown and veil that is ooak. I think those 2 gals did an amazing job creating this wedding fashion, and this repro vintage Barbie looks awesome in it. I can't remember what I paid for her either, but I am so very happy to have her in my collection. I keep her displayed in a curio cabinet so I can enjoy looking at her whenever I want to enjoy her. I hope you love her as much as I do.

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit me, and I hope you enjoy today's post.

Don't forget to play with your dolls and create something pretty.

Maria Terese Silkstone Bride

June has turned into a hot month here in sunny Cali, but I'm sure weddings will continue in this state despite the heat. Brides anytime of the year can be beautiful, but the Maria Terese Silkstone Barbie is one of the most gorgeous brides dolls to have ever been produced by Mattel. I love Barbie bride dolls, so I had to have this one when it became available to purchase. In fact, I bought 2 of them, so I could have one to redress. I sold the other complete bridal fashion on Ebay a few years ago. Of course, I won't part with the other one that Maria Terese is modeling in one of my curio cabinets. She is a very treasured doll, and I just love looking at her each time I pass the curio where she is displayed.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today, and I hope you enjoyed this post. I will continue on the rest of the month sharing more of my bride dolls with you.

Please feel free to leave a comment. I would love to hear from you.

June Brides

June traditionally is the month of more happy nuptials taking place than any other month. I haven't researched this out for myself, but the saying "June bride" came from somewhere. lol So....throughout the month, I thought I would share pictures of some of my dolls as June brides. So...starting today, that's what my blog posts will be about for the most part during the month of June. I hope you enjoy them.

We'll start off with this picture of a vintage Barbie and Ken doll posing for the wedding portrait on the happiest day of their lives. I know....I am being silly, because they are just dolls after all. lol I think it's okay though, because the men in white coats haven't come to get me just yet. haha So...without further ado, here is a picture of a vintage Barbie and Ken after saying "I do."

Don't they look ecstatically happy? Soon they will be on their way to their honeymoon destination, which remains a secret from all of us. I do suspect they are going someplace very romantic, so could it be Paris? Maybe, but they are not talking. lol

I hope you enjoyed my post today, and please feel free to leave a comment. Don't forget to play with your dolls or create something beautiful....or both. Happy Friday!

All That Jazz Reproduction TNT Barbie

In 2006, Mattel released a reproduction TNT blonde Barbie on the market, and I am so happy to have one in my collection. This dolls is a Gold Label Edition limited to 12, 100 dolls worldwide. There was also an even more limited brunette All That Jazz TNT Barbie released, but it sold out very quickly. Below are a couple of pictures of the gorgeous doll I have in my collection. She is wearing a reproduction All That Jazz fashion #1848(1968-1969).

I'm sure it's easy for you to see why I love this doll so much. She is gorgeous! Other than the Steffie face mold, this is my 2nd favorite Barbie era. What's not to love about the mod TNT Barbie era? Barbielicious.

That's my post for today. I hope you enjoyed it.
