Barbie Best Models South Beach and Monte Carlo

A couple of dolls I added to my collection a number of years ago are the Best Models South Beach and Monte Carlo. Actually, I forgot all about them up until today. I was scrolling through some pictures on my external hard drive, and there they were. So....I thought I would share them with you
today. I maybe telling you something you already know, but the one in the black bathing suit is Monte Carlo, and the one in the white is South Beach. Both of these girls came in a nice display box with extra fashions and accessories.

In the below picture Monte Carlo is wearing one of her extra fashions. Doesn't she look very stylish and ready
for just about anything?

South Beach is wearing a more casual fashion just right for South Beach. She too is ready for just about anything.
Here is Monte Carlo wearing a fashion that is suitable for going to the office or to lunch with the girls.

South Beach is definitely looking very fine in this beautiful fashion that is right for a party or clubbing. She will turn many a head wearing the dress she is wearing in the below picture.

Now they are ready for their closeups. Both Monte Carlo and South Beach are equally pretty dolls.

I hope you enjoyed my post for today. Happy Easter to all of you out their in blog land.

A Francie Reroot

I think most Barbie collectors are acquainted with her modern British cousin.....Francie. Mattel lst issued her in 1966, and she was on the market until 1976. Mattel reintroduced Francie for heer 30th anniversary, and we've seen some more of her since then and as recently as 2012 as Fuchsia n' Fur Francie from Barbiecollector.com. I just purchased this silkstone Francie doll myself, and she is now in my collection. More on her later.

The reason I'm writing this post today, is to feature a vintage Francie doll that belongs to a long time online friend of mine. We did a trade a number of years ago, and for my part of the trade, I rerooted her Francie doll for her. She picked out the hair color she wanted her doll to have, and I went to town rerooting her. Another wonderful ooak doll artist had repainted her already, and I gave her her crowning glory. My friend wanted her to have the "no bangs" Francie hairstyle, and so that's what I gave her. Here is a picture of her all finished and ready to go home.

In the process of removing Francie's hair, some of her eyebrow paint came off. So....I got up my courage and repainted her brows. If I don't say so myself, they turned out great. It wasn't my first time repainting a doll, and I have painted a number of Barbie doll's lips.

I also made the outfit you see Francie Fairchild wearing in the above pictures. I made her a matching purse and headband to go with her dress. I'm happy to report, that my online friend really loved her doll when she arrived home. Yaaaaay! A job well done is always a plus.

I hope you enjoyed today's post, and please leave me a comment. I really love hearing from anyone who would like to share with me. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy 54th Birthday Barbie!

March 9, 1959 is a very important date for those of us that love Barbie and collect her. It's the date that Mattel first released Barbie on the toy market, and Barbie lovers everywhere have always celebrated this day. So, I couldn't let this day go by without paying homage to such an icon as Barbie. She has inspired so many throughout the years in so many different ways. Her messages have been many to little and big people alike. To list all of them here would take a long time and turn into a book, but I don't think anyone would disagree with this statement. Barbie has definitely become a worldwide icon to so many. Even dolls that don't carry the famous "Barbie" trademarked name, are referred to as being a Barbie. I have heard this and seen this many many times in the years I've been collecting. In fact, the word "Barbie" is used in many different ways to reference many different things. I'm sure many of you out there know exactly what I'm talking about.

Barbie....you will forever remain FABSOME and BARBIELICIOUS. You are forever young and inspirational to so many. Happy 54th Birthday to a wonderful "doll."

I hope you enjoyed today's post to celebrate Barbie's 54th birthday. May she be around for another 54 years and beyond.

Thanks for stopping by today. Please leave a comment if you would like.

Anna Sui Boho Barbie

Hello everyone out there in blogland. Today is a beautiful sunny day where I live in sunny California. This is nice, but tomorrow we are expecting some more rain. I like rain, and we sure do need it. But now I will go on to a topic that is a lot more fun, and that is to talk about our favorite hobby of collecting dolls.

I thought I would share a bit about me and how I started collecting my favorite girl.....Barbie. In about 1991, my hubby saw in our local newspaper that a doll show was being held here, so he asked if I would like to go. Why not? I was a bit intrigued to find out exactly what a doll show was all about, and I wondered if I would see some of my childhood dolls there. I really was blown away once we arrived and saw just how big collecting Barbie had become. There were lots of other dolls there as well, but the amount of Barbie dolls that were for sale was a bit mind boggling. You would think that this show would have been when I bought my first Barbie as a collector, but as it turns out, it was not. Previously, my hubby and I had gone on an anniversary trip to another area of our state, and we came across a Mattel Outlet store. We went inside, and I bought 2 Barbie dolls. At the time, I had no idea that I had started collecting, because I had bought them for another purpose. Yep....I had decided that I wanted to learn how to crochet, and I had a couple of Barbie crochet patterns already. I fully intended to crochet fashions from those patterns for the 2 Barbie dolls I bought that day to wear. I'm sad to say that I never did learn how to crochet. lol So to make a long story a bit shorter, I bought 2 more Barbie dolls at the doll show, and my collection had started to grow. After that, hubby and I went to many many doll shows and my collection kept growing. Once the internet was born, it became much easier to buy more dolls, etc. etc. So.....I guess you could say that it really was my hubby's idea for me to start collecting Barbie dolls. He suggested going to the doll show, and then he really encouraged me to buy the 2 dolls I came home with that day. It's all his fault! lol And I'm so very happy it is.

So on to the doll I'm going to share with you today, which is the Anna Sui Boho Barbie from 2006. I was so very excited to find her at Tuesday Morning for a much reduced price, and that's when she became mine. Please enjoy a few pics of my Anna Sui Boho Barbie.

Isn't she gorgeous? I'm so very glad she is part of my collection, and I enjoy her each and every day.

I'm so glad you stopped by to check out my blog. I hope you enjoyed my post today. Please feel free to leave a comment, and I will repond as soon as I can.
